This assignment consisted of creating a green screen introduction video to go with the next assignment, a screencast video. The screencast video will be a tutorial on switching your WordPress self-hosted website to the Gutenberg editor. This video features an audio appearance by Sophie the Cat.
Home studio green-screening is not without its challenges. What I think is green and what Camtasia thinks is green are different, to start with. In the first attempt at filming, I wore a turquoise top. Nope. Seeing just my disembodied head and neck was an interesting experience, but you’ll notice the color I wear in this video.
A more experienced classmate said the green screen must absolutely be without wrinkles. I was in a hurry to get the thing done, so I went on with a very wrinkled green cloth. Oh my. Nope again. I dragged out the ol’ ironing board and iron and blew off the dust. Just kidding. I didn’t blow off the dust. The ironed background was MUCH easier to remove from the video in Camtasia.
- “Green” means anything in the green family, turquoise included.
- “No wrinkles” means NO WRINKLES.
